Are you facing the challenge that your credit keep disappearing every time you recharge your MTN line but you don’t know why, I am here to help you because I have been in the same situation. The problem is because you subscribed to a services that you either don’t remember or you subscribed unknowingly.
Recently, all the mobile telecoms have enabled popup notifications that force many users to unknowingly subscribe to some services they don’t know or need. There is a solution that can help you fix that problem but First, there are few things you need to check to know why your airtime is being deducted.
Why your MTN Credit is being debited after recharging
Before providing a solution we will first check out the reason your credit is being deducted and below are the possible reasons:
- You borrowed data or airtime from MTN.
- You activated some promotional offers or MTN lottery games that deduct certain amount of money per day.
- The Tariff plan you subscribed might require daily activation fee.
The reason MTN is deducting your money is not far from what I list above. However, there is always a solution and I will take them one after the other.
You borrowed data or MTN from MTN
In some case, your family members can use your phone to borrow airtime from MTN without your knowledge and some people don’t know when their account is showing a negative sign. If you balance is showing negative sign, it means that you are owing MTN and once you recharge they will take their money.
Example:
- Negative sign: -500
- Positive sign: 500
If you see a – (minus) in your balance it means you are owing MTN and the example above shows that you owe 500. If you recharge 500 they will take it but if you recharge something like 200 you will still see something like, -300 which means you are still owing them 300.
The positive sign I said is when you don’t have anything like – (Minus) in your account balance it means that what you see is what you have in your account.
Solution: There is no other better ways to solve this rather than paying what you borrowed from MTN and you are good to go.
You activated some promotional or lottery offers
MTN occasionally sent messages and use popups to ask their subscribers to subscribe to some promotional and lottery gaming offers by selecting Yes or No and if you mistakenly select yes then your airtime will be deducted on a daily basis.
However, MTN understand how annoying it can be when you recharge your phone and the money just disappeared that is why they provided a solation that will fix all.
Solutions: MTN Introduced a new USSD code that can be used to deactivate any unwanted active subscription. What the code does is to show you all the services you subscribed to and how you can cancel the subscription. To get started.
- Dial: *305*1# on your MTN line
- Check to see the list of active services you are subscribed to and select deactivate.
- Repeat the process until you deactivate all the services that is making MTN to remove your money on a daily basis
To be sure that you are free from any MTN subscription that you don’t need you need to dial the code *305*1# and then you will see something like this:
The message above clearly shows that I am not subscribed to any MTN services that can deduct my money whenever I recharge my phone. Moreover, when you dial the code, two things are involved, is either you see this message or the list of your subscription will be presented to you.
But hey, you can actually using this means to find out more about MTN product and services by dialing *305*2#, the code will list all the offers that you might be interested to checkout. However, if you are just interested to cancel any subscription that always deduct your credit then dial: *305*1#
