A few days ago Multichoice the owner of both DStv and GOtv increased their subscription price which starts from 1st March 2025 even when Nigerians are struggling to meetup with the old price. However, the increment has been attributed to the current economic situation in Nigeria.
It seems that Nigerians are in for a long ride because things are not getting better but keep getting worst day by day but then should we blame the Govt or blame the Pay Tv provider Multichoice? The reality is that they are trying to meet up with the running cost. As a Nigeria where do we go from here?
Multichoice are not alone:
This is not about DStv and GOtv alone, all the Mobile Telecommunications in Nigeria such as MTN, Airtel, Glo and 9mobile recently doubled their data subscription prices to be able to stay in business in Nigeria as price of everything has sky rocketed as well.
My problem with Multichoice is that their increment is too constant, they always increase their package price many times in one year. We shouldn’t blame them but the Govt who does nothing but to put their citizens into hardship and poverty.

What to do next?
Honestly, with the new price hike, may subscribers will no longer be able to subscribe, not when an average Nigerian are struggling to eat or to meet up with the family basic needs. Moreover, subscribers who can afford it can still subscribe because all fingers are not the same.
When it comes to what you can do right now, the increment will take effect on the 1st of March and today is still 25th of February, If you have money and you need this DStv or GOtv desperately then i suggest you subscribe for 1 year so before the 1st March to bypass the new price and maintain the old price foe the whole one year. Mind you that more increment will come before the year ends.
Remember that when you subscribe for one year you will get one month free and then you will not be worried about the subscription till next year.
